Group Work - Design Fundamentals

Group Work and My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that you have to learn things on your own, with a little help, direction and guidance from me and the resources used in this class (other students, Web sites, textbooks, real-life samples, projects, etc.)

So… our weekly group activities will have you learn and comprehend through the following process:

  1. You will read, learn and develop your own thoughts about a concept first—in collaborative groups
  2. Then, (as needed) you will analyze real-life samples using your new knowledge. The goal here is for you to be able to identify how other designers have applied the concept.
  3. Your analysis will also include examples and non-examples. (what it is, and what it isn't)
  4. Next, you will present and defend your findings to the class and me
  5. I will fill in any areas you miss as you present—to make sure you have all the information needed
  6. Lastly, you will apply these newly learned concepts when you do your class design projects
