Page 9 - Applying the Brand to Marketing Material

By CRAIG KUNCE

Choose a second marketing piece to design.

Choose someting that is challenging and will impress potential employers in your portfolio! Don't just slap a logo on a baseball cap. Design a fully illustrated uniform for your coffee house baristas to wear. Or create a 3D sign that hangs outside of your restaurant—draw it in 3D too! Or, design two html email marketing messages to deliver via email. Think originally!

Make sure it fits your brand and your brand's target market. What marketing pieces would your customers use and like? Which would reach them based on their lifestyle?

Carefully consider how your marketing piece is displayed on your page. Can you photograph it to look life-like? Can you place your billboard design on a photo of a real billboard in a city? Can you draw your piece in 3D and place it our your page?

Look through the student sample books to get fresh ideas.

Also, consider conceptualizing, designing and describing a social marketing campaign for one of your marketing samples. Read through the examples on my Marketing Ideas web page.

Define each marketing piece by answering these questions…

Your booklet page should include a description of:

  1. Where will your marketing piece will be used?
  2. How it will it help reach your target market?
  3. How much would it cost to make this marketing piece? (if applicable)
  4. How much will it cost to use this marketing medium? (cost-per-click, monthly fee?)
  5. How many people would you reach? (if available/applicable)
  6. Do you know what the response rate is for this type of media? (if available/applicable)

Here are two examples of what this page could look like:
