Guest speakers will present and discuss all things graphic design job related. Most will be graduates of our program and will discuss:
- (10 min.) What they think your portfolio should look like
- How many samples?
- What types of samples?
- What should my portfolio web site look like?
- What samples helped them land their first job?
- What samples should I leave out?
- (10 min.) Tips and tricks they used (and you can use) to land your first job
- What are employers looking for?
- What will help me stand out?
- What soft skills have helped you most in your job? During the job search?
- Should I use social networking? Which sites?
- (10 min.) Where they work, what their job is like, and 2 projects they recently completed
- What software do you use most?
- Which marketing or advertising pieces do you design the most?
- What knowledge or skills help you succeed everyday in your job?
